Is your purpose worth $44 million dollars?
Well, you may not know him, but Larry Sanders was a former NBA first-round draft pick who decided to walk away from his $44 million contract to pursue his purpose.
In his own words he said,
“I’m Larry Sanders. I’m a person. I’m a father. I’m an artist. I’m a writer. I’m a painter. I’m a musician. And sometimes I play basketball. “I love basketball, and if I get to a point where I feel I’m capable of playing basketball again, I will,” Sanders wrote. “I’ve had to make the difficult decision to follow my intuition, and allow myself the space and time to explore my true purpose in life.”
Pretty awesome and amazing thing to say and do huh! To walk away from a highpoint in your career to pursue your purpose and calling takes courage…
As a counselor and coach, the 2 questions my Clients ask the most are:
Who am I?
What is my Purpose?
You surprised? Well you shouldn’t be…
Research suggests that 75% of us DON’T KNOW what our Purpose truly is – Do you?
So what’s your purpose? Is it clear or do you have a cluttered vision about what it should be? When you have clarity, what you want will begin to show up in your life. But you have to be willing to do the work.
Larry Sanders is a good example of someone willing to do the work and I thought you’d enjoy seeing how passionate he is about pursuing his purpose.
He gave up $44 million dollars to pursue his… What are you willing to give up?
